Accessibility statement
This website is designed to be read by everyone, including people who use assistive technology, without needing anything switched on. Here is what that means in practice and where we know it falls short.
Standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA across the whole site. Text colours were chosen to exceed the AA contrast ratio on the cream background; the gold used for rules and ornaments is decorative only and never carries text.
What is built in
- Every page works without JavaScript; the only script on the site moves focus to a validation message when a form is returned with errors.
- One heading at the top of each page, a checked heading order beneath it, and landmarks for the header, navigation, main content, asides and footer.
- A skip link to the main content, visible when focused; a visible two-pixel focus ring on every interactive element.
- Questions and answers use the native details element, so they open with the keyboard and announce their state.
- Footnote references and their notes are linked in both directions, with descriptive labels for screen readers.
- Form fields have visible labels, required fields are marked in text as well as by symbol, and error messages are announced and linked to their fields.
- Text can be resized to two hundred per cent without loss of content; the layout reflows at every width from small phones upward with no horizontal scrolling.
- Animations respect the operating system's reduced-motion setting.
Known limitations
- Awarding-body specifications are linked as PDF documents on the awarding bodies' own sites; we cannot vouch for their accessibility. Ask us and we will describe any part of a specification in plain text.
- The dotted leaders in contents lists are decorative; some screen readers may announce the awarding body and credit value without a pause after the title.
- Photograph slots are placeholders at present and are described by their captions; when images are added they will carry alternative text.
Alternative formats and adjustments
If any page is difficult to use, or you need its content in large print, plain text or another format, Use the enquiry form. We will supply it within ten working days. Learners who need adjustments to teaching or assessment should raise them with LSPM, the approved centre; see the support section of how LSPM teaches.
Reporting a problem and enforcement
Tell us about any accessibility problem using the contact details above; we treat these as corrections and fix them as a priority. If you are unhappy with our response, the Equality Advisory and Support Service can advise on your rights under the Equality Act 2010.
How this statement was prepared
The site was reviewed by its publisher using keyboard-only navigation, a screen reader, browser zoom to two hundred per cent, and automated contrast checks at four screen widths. It is reviewed again at each termly content review.
